just ran that through the miller formula. looks like there may be stabalization issues. depending on barrel twist. a 1 in 8 twist will stabalize it, but 1 in 9 and 1 in 10 do not look good for subsonic loadings.

Hot dam.......Gotta love CH4D. I am using there Dies for reloading the Tokerav with the Lee Crimp Die. Problem is, the standard seating die is designed for the 85grn to 110 grn round nose stndard projectiles. I had to back the whole die out inorder to seat the longer 180 to 220 grn projectiles. Saw on there website about custom seating stems........Well, I got it today. it is a seating stem a little more then 1/2" shorter that will let me seat the longer bullets while having the rest of the seating die set properly, they as set the inside of it to allow the tips of the long skinny projectiles to no get damaged during seating with this stem.

New baubles are done.... 132.5 gr SHP (Super Hollow Point) & 148.1gr HP Miller stability program says the 148's should work.....we'll see....

those look sweet. I am going out on sunday for another round of testing. foing to shoot mostly for accuracy, think I have most of the loads dialed in for velocity, now time to work on accuacy now.

well, everytime is a learning experience......best groups from the heavy ammo was 1.5"......think I can do better then that. my velocities were not quite were I expected them. last time the velocities were 60fps slower the QL, so expecting that, I picked some loads that would put me were I wanted..go figure, this time my Velocites matched QL so instead of being right around 1050, I was right around 1080 to 1120 on the different loads.......grrr.....but the 220BTHP did not do bad.
Something I am finding is that my first shoot through the Chrono is 60 to 120fps slower then the rest of the string for the subsonic loads through the chrono. going to go back and check my other chrono data for this rifle and see if it is that way for all rounds, or just the heavier projectiles.

1:8 blanks on order, lets's see if we can get into some Whisper territory (and what happens on the high side...)

I was going to try some of these. this is Barnes specs on the 30 caliber TSX bullets. ............... Diameter Weight Description ......S.D. ..B.C. ...CAT# NEW ..............308" 110 gr Tipped TSX FB .166 .295 ...30871 ....................308" 130 gr Tipped TSX BT .196 .350 ....30873 ................... .308" 150 gr Tipped TSX BT .226 .420 .....30875 ................... .308" 168 gr Tipped TSX BT .253 .470 .....30878 ................... .308" 180 gr Tipped TSX BT .271 .484 ...*30879 NEW............ .308" 200 gr Tipped TSX BT .301 .546.... *30880 *Recommended twist rate for #30879 is 1:11 or faster *Recommended twist rate for #30880 is 1:10 or faster I thought maybe I'd try some of the 130gr and 150gr bullets since I can't make those really nice ones like you.

remember, those recommended twist rates may also take into account faster twist rates.
have you downloaded the miller formula yet?

remember, those recommended twist rates may also take into account faster twist rates. have you downloaded the miller formula yet? I have it, but my problem is I don't have a chrony for FPS so the best I can do is just shoot and see if it works. QL will give a FPS for a load but I've found it's not necessarily correct. I use the QL stuff for starting loads. I had some load info for Sierra 200gr Game King bullet. It was for my original barrel, 1:10 twist. Best I could push the bullet, per the info I got from Accurate Powers was 1300fps and it would key hole one round in 10. Miller says I needed something in the 1:9 twist to make it work. I dropped back to bullets ranging from 125gr to 168gr and they worked great. The 168gr bullet seemed to be the max weight for my twist and #9 powder. To be honest, since I don't have a suppressor, I have no idea why I was messing with those heavy bullets. The 110gr to 125gr bullets seemed to be more to my liking -- the 110gr round nose/soft point was a nice thumper at 1800fps.

Whats yalls opinion on a 1:9 would it not over rpm the surplus, and could it stabilize up to a 200 gr? Also whats everybodys recipe for 110 and 125 ballistic tips and whats the fps? Right now im running a 1:10 16in. Would love some maximum load data and some accuracy loads. Thanks!

What is the standard twist rate on the Tokarev rifles / pistols? I would think anything faster than that would over rev them with such a short bullet. I've got some 1:9.5 SKS barrels in the works to see if there is any difference, but its not only a slightly faster twist, the bore is also larger. The 1:8 brls are .308's.
