Loaded up some Hornady 180 gr partitions with 7gr of Lil Gun to test in our standard Tok uppers. It cycled the action with authority so I backed down on the adj gas block a bit to see where it would go. Didn't have the chrono set up wasn't getting the big crack.

I am going shooting on Friday for Chrono and accuracy. Shooting mostly Lil'Gun, but picked up some Winchester 296 today, that may have some potential. Also picked up a thousand CCI Small rifle bench rest primers to go with a score I made in the cabelas bargain cave.....Bergers 30cal 210grn VLD projectiles. will be able to do a OAL length almost a tenth longer then the Sierra 200SMKs.........going to spend a couple hours reloading more tonight..........

Sounds like a good plan! I also dug out my BR primers and am going to trim and cull cases to see what that does. How are you measuring your powder? I don't have a trickler, so I have to weigh every one when I need to get picky.

for now I m measuring each one. I have a pact digital powder scale and electronic powder measure. well worth the investment in my opinion. may not be the fastest (not the slowest either) electronic powder measure, but is really easy to cleanout after. running the numbers in quicktarget, these 210grn VLDs supposedly are only going to loos 200fps velocity out to 400 yards.

Checked into the electronic measures & scales..... maybe I'll throw a short charge and then trickle into my beam scale for the time being. Going to be interesting to see how the VLD's go, keep us posted. Found some info on sub-bullet design and worked up a dwg just in case I have time to get on the lathe......

Are you going to cut rings around the bullet body like the Barns TSX? I believe they do that on solid bullets to cut down on drag through the bore -- less body in contact with the bore. It's supposed to allow for higher velocity Notice a little different ring on the Barrett 416 bullet.

ok......got my attention!!!!! I would either look at doing the rings or cutting the front a little smaller in diameter. saw an article in handloader magazine I think that talked about this. playing with the Hornady and Sierra 220grn RN taught me some things. since they are longer topedo shaped and have more in contact with the lands and grooves, the IS an increase in resistance which directly relates to PRESSURE. one of my loads, which according to QL was not close to high pressures at all blew holes in 2 out of 4 primers. velocites were exactly where I wanted them 1030 to 1040FPS. but all primers in all the loads were completely flattened. I would love to play with those, but think I'll put those asside for 308 or something else. I think the 416 bullet design would work great for sub-sonic ammo. Dam I gotta get a lathe in my garage.......of move closer to HMC and buddy up with them

I have been thinking about getting back into the more specialized reloading for the 7.62 Tok and the reason I asked about the ringed body was I remember what the new GI MK318 bullet looks like. The reduced body contact was to allow for higher velocity without over pressure. Of course the round pictured is 22 caliber but you get the idea.

I think the re-programing helped a bit...... its amazing when the machine is smarter than the operator

What's the weight on the bottom bullet -- it looks like a winner!
