Got plenty now, so going to work up some of my 180 subs and see what happens. Might even throw a throat in there for the 190 gr cast, should feed from stock mag.

Running my standard 180 sub load; Hornady 180gr SPBT #3070 loaded with 6.5 gr of LilGun at 2.000" oal out of a std mag. Round chambered just fine in the stock chamber which is a nice thing about the 180 Hornady. Nice fun round. Put my super light set up in it to see what would happen and I could kick a shell out but that was it. Factory loads hit 2000 fps in the 16" brl but you have to open up the barrel extension a bit for those soft round nose bullets. Again, pulled a bullet to check the powder and had 14.1 gr of a ball type so we'll see if we can duplicate it for more testing. Been working on the communication with our big machine and have it talking one way but not the other. We want to run the new adapters on this machine.

Prepped up a few hundred rounds of 30 Carbine brass last night. Going to run 14.5 gr of 2400 with the Hornady 100 gr SJ bullet. Its the one with the half jacket like the Sierra Plinkers except it is quite a bit longer. Going to make a new seater to use with the pointed bullets available too. Have the adapter program just about done and should be able to have a test cut on Wednesday.

Test fired 30 Carbine upper with new adapter yesterday. Bullet choice was not compatible with the off brand 15 round mags I have. The lead nose hits the leading edge of the mag and either sticks or shaves off some of the nose. Either way, a modification is required. Switched over to some 125 gr Spitzers and feeding was much better. Even with the factory round nose, the leading edge of the mag needs some work. Now I can see all the negative reports on non-GI mags. Tried a couple ways of locking the mag in place and will pick one and go with it for the initial run so we can get some feedback. Lots more rounds to test with this set up so hopefully when I get back in to town we can get started.

I got some Korean mags for my M1 carbine and they seem to work ok but then that a different type of action. that adapter is looking really good -- super job there!

I've been eyeing those M1 carbine magazines because of the project with sabots. It seems the 7.62X25 cartridge with a 50 or 55 grain bullet, that's been stuffed in a sabot, can be be seated out pretty far in the Tok cartridge and fit really nice in an M1 carbine magazine. I don't know how well it would feed yet but it looks good.
When you get the M1 carbine adapter work finished and you figure they are ready to go commercial what do you think the price would be?

Price is going to be the same as our other adapters, $140. Did some chrono work with my play load, Hornady 100 gr SJ and 14.5 gr of 2400. (the old Herco branded stuff.... , how long has that can been sitting around?) Charge fills the case and it's close to being a compressed charge. Chrono shows 2078 FPS avg velocity. Feed and function out of the mags and adapter was ok. Not silky smooth, but ok. The front wings / feed lips / guides of the mags just don't play well and I worked them over pretty good. Without any M1 Carbine rifle experience, I can't comment on the difference from the Korean mags vs GI stuff. The other 5 round mag I have doesn't look as good as the 15 round Korean I'm working with. When I first got the uppers together I was using stock Colt mags. The Carbine rounds flop all over in there but they function just fine when you load a few in. Would feed 5 rounds just fine, but did not load it up to see what would happen. The other issue is you are limited to bullet selection with the stock mags. The 125 gr Spire Points would work, but really cut down on powder capacity. The other issue is the false bolt hold open: The bolt hits the back of the ramp on the follower locking things up after the last shot. So, either I come up with a different follower, or a real bolt hold open function.... Still working on the mag catch system for the adapter and am contemplating the use of the 9mm catch we already have programmed in. It would mean a mod to the mag, but if I have to work them over anyway, its a moot point. Still pondering on that. Good news is I got a bunch of trigger time in

Now this is just me but I don't mind the bolt catching the backside of the follower after the last round is fired -- sorta like a bolt hold open feature. You can hear the difference in sound of the bolt operation and know the last shot was fired. I think Black Dog makes a follower for their 22lr magazine that does the same thing -- not a true bolt-hold-open but an attention getter. I had some real GI M1 mags at one time but they got lost in a move years ago so I'm working with the korean mags also. I still need to test the mags in an AR for the Tok rounds with the long sabots. I'm not sure yet exactly where I want the mag to sit.

Bolt catching the back side of the follower is not acceptable. It holds the mag in place so it won't drop free.

Bolt catching the back side of the follower is not acceptable. It holds the mag in place so it won't drop free. I'm not sure is I have a older or newer version of the Korean carbine magazine but mine has a ramp-shaped section at the rear of the filler area on the magazine folower. The AR bolt just slides over my follower. The mag setup is just a test piece of junk.
