Started a new thread for the 22 RE blow back to keep things separate now that we've got the DI running with real bullets with the M1 Carbine mag. Last time out we dedicated the blow back to the 22 Uzi, a shortened 22 Reeds Express that will fit standard uzi mags. With the success of running that upper in blow back, we tried the same approach to the RE. If you recall, I've had quite an affair with the RE in blow back, even to the point of ruining some stuff. I was having issues with FTF nose down with both the UZI and RE so I chamfered the breach a bit on both of them, being careful not to go too far, remembering my last RE episode. My initial chamfer helped, but didn't solve the issue so I got a bit more aggressive on the RE BB this morning and PRESTO 100% feed rate! The loads were the 5gr of Herco with the 30gr bullets and lo and behold, they would not cycle the action with the H3 buffer. I swapped out the H3 with a std carbine buffer and the last shot is the only one that would fully cycle. Tried some of the 6gr loads I had left over and they wouldn't cycle either...... So hopefully we are on to something here. I'll make the same mod on the 22 Uzi and see how that goes.

That sounds great especially with your regular work kinda taking up most of your time. What mag did you use for the 22 RE in the blowback? I would love to see more info on your work with the 22 Uzi also. How many rounds of the 22 Uzi can you load on a mag like a Metalform mag and have it all feed? I think I've said it before that I tried the 22RE in the PPS mags and and wondered what mag you used for the 22RE? It sounds like the 22 Uzi may work really nice in the Blowback and could be a fun varmint round.

I'm using Korean M1 carbine mags "with some modifications" for the 22 Reeds Express.

Ran some more tests on the blow back to confirm operations and even had to replace the H3 buffer with my light / light set up. Don't want to go too far down this road now that the 22 Uzi is becoming a reality....
