I liked shooting the Milsurp 7.62X25 Tok stuff when it was cheap. I didn't care about the brass because it was not reloadable. Now I shoot the 22 Reed Express and I'm working (maybe) on a 22TCM but I realized that the fired cases are reloadable and I have to bust my butt sometimes to locate them. Is it just me or is this type of ammo not the kind you load up in 32 round mags and go plinking with? My 22 Reed Express AR is really accurate and it would make a nice varmint rifle but with all the trouble forming the 22RE brass I can't see using it for a lead hose -- but this is just me. I've tried those brass catchers that are held onto the AR by a velcro strap and I really don't like them. I've actually had fired brass bounce off the mesh in the catcher and go back and jam in the ejection port. I've cut my mags down to 10 rounds so I don't fire too much before locating the fired cases. Maybe I'm just cheap and don't want to loose too many pieces of brass. I think the 22 Reed Express would make a nice varmint rifle with something like a 20" barrel -- what are your thoughts?

Hey 22, so what are you looking for, a highly accurate semi-auto with cheap ammo thats easy to reload and drops brass at your feet? A HM bench brass catcher? A bolt action or single shot TCM or Reed Express?
I also hate chasing brass. I got a call one day, couple of yrs ago. Guy said he had one of my Tok uppers and didn't like the way the brass came out. Said it all landed in a pile 2' away. Told him that's the way I like it because I hate chasing brass. He said, "That's not how we do things at Red Jacket, that **** has to hit the wall!"
Been keeping my eye out for a Savage 110 or Rem XP tho.......

Read a post on cast boolits related to brass:
I shoot my .223 until the necks split then I cut them down to 300 fireball. Shoot them til the necks split then cut them down to 22 RE.
Gotta luv them cast boolit guys! Plus that guy needs to find a 256WMrimless......

Funny you should bring up the 256WM rimless -- I was screwing around making some 300BLK brass and was going to pitch it when I realized I could make it into 256WM. I don't have any brass with split necks but I do like to make 22RE cases and 7.62X25 cases using .223 brass.
If most of my brass could land in a nice pile I would have no problem with a semi-auto in a wildcat type cartridge but that won't happen when your move from one point to the next. I love a bolt gun but can't afford it right now and I'm not sure an AR with the gas turned off and a custom bolt handle will work for me -- I tried that with the 17 Reed Express and the cases were really hard to pop loose from the chamber. Don't know if the 22RE would do the same.
Post how those ARMSCOR bullets turn out. The 22RE case is already shorter than the 22TCM and those bullets might allow the 22RE to work in more than just a 45acp 1911.
