Barrel should be stamped on left side of muzzle. Just checked and there is nothing stamped there. I may try to convert one of my rifle lowers to a carbine lower to be more compatible with the 7.62 tok upper.

Tim, I did what you told me and tried 5.5gr of Unique with the 110gr V-max. I'm using a rifle lower with a lightened rifle buffer and a Wolff reduced power rifle spring. The system ran perfect and the bolt locked back after the last shot. I may try reducing the powder charge a bit to see at what point the bolt doesn't lock back. The picture below is the carbine barrel with rifle length Magpul handguard, small bipod and the rifle lower. I use a modified Magpul magazine for a lot of my Tok rounds. I used the scope off this upper for another test rifle but it will be going back on. I forgot to add I use .223 brass cut down and reformed to 7.62 Tok size since the .223 brass is so easy to find. I want to save my Tok brass for other setups.

Awesome 22! Man it looks like a rifle gas system on that thing, those Tok rounds must be POWERFUL! Not to mention .223 brass saves the bolt head mod! +1

Need that cut-down front sight base to hold the handguard cap. Not having to get another bolt moded to accept the 7.62 Tok rim was a plus.

Knocking out some Tokarev barrels and noticed some water on the shop floor! 33 degrees out and rain, which isn't bad, but had the drive shoveled with no path to storm drain so the rain / melt backed up on me!!!! Took care of that.....

Been a great winter so far, 35 degrees out today! Supposed to be warmer on Saturday! Done a batch of Tok pistol barrels and getting ready to clean them up from the soaking tank.

Joined up to find out more about what I would need to build a 7.62x25 upper for an AR. Am I correct that the only caliber specific parts are the barrel, gas block, gas tube, bolt and magazine adapter?

Joined up to find out more about what I would need to build a 7.62x25 upper for an AR. Am I correct that the only caliber specific parts are the barrel, gas block, gas tube, bolt and magazine adapter? Tim can fix you up with special parts like the barrel and a modified AR bolt to shoot the 7.62X25 tok round. He also does gas blocks and can probably supply the correct length gas tube. The 7.62X25 Tok round's rim size is a bit larger in diameter than the .223 rim size so an AR bolt face has to be opened up a hair to allow the Tok rim to fit. Please forgive me if you already know all this. I don't shoot the old milsurp 7.62X25 tok ammo, I reload and reload a bit hot so I use a different gas tube length in the pistol gas type system. It was actually designed as a copy of the 22 mini-whisper setup and I shoot bullets in the 110gr to 168gr size -- all very accurate. I have done 200gr bullets but since I don't have a suppressor it's not worth shooting the 200gr subsonic bullets. Reloading the Tok round is fun and is easy on powder. New brass can be gotten from Starline brass if you want to go the reloading route.

I am all set to reload it. My grandfather has been dreaming of getting a carbine Tok for years. He has stacks of surplus and quite a few pistols. Even has a converted semi-auto PPSH-41 he bought a while back. For years he has been wondering aloud why no one has brought a 7.62x25 caliber new pistol or carbine to market. I have built a bunch of ARs so this would be great!

22B Pretty much spelled it out. If you need help with parts let me know. Tim, just confirming the Heavy Metal Group is your products, correct? If that is so then I do have a couple questions about the products. 1)What size gas block fits your barrels and what length is the gas port? 2)what style handguard and gas block do the complete uppers come with? 3) when you say complete upper, does that include BCG, CH, and sights? Thanks for the info!

The majority of my Tok gas blocks are .875" and will work with every handguard I have tried so far. Some DPMS FF tubes have to the ID opened up a bit for clearance which are the std HG. We also offer UTG super slims and the 2pc AR FSB set up as well, depending on what you want. A complete upper is a std A3 upper with all parts ready to fire, but no sights and no adapter set up. Those are extras. Send me an email to tim@thearguy.com for specific pricing, this is an information forum only. Yes, all parts are made at our shop Heavy Metal

Thanks again for the info!
