Another hot fall day at Southern Command! Set up a makeshift bench at the load trailer and set up a plate at 50 yds to see how the 18" SS 1:14 barrel will do. Loaded up 3 rounds and let em go.... Fired 3 shots prior to this to get the scope zero'd in and adjusted the Weaver T6 to get a clear as I could. I'll take that group for less than 10 rounds through the barrel! Bullets were the Midway 34gr Dogtown HP and used H110 powder with a mid level charge. We had the chrono set up and hit a steady 2660 fps from the 18" brl. The heavy bull barrel (.925" dia) cut recoil a noticeable amount compared with the 16" x .740" dia Sport Bull Nice day!

Ordered more brass and a bunch of the 9R bullets to see how they function with everything. At 39gr JHP we'll see how deep they get seated. According to Armscor they drop powder charge about a grain with the 9R, but if they are seated deeper, the pressures may be similar. We have been getting a lot of calls to do a DI on a dedicated Glock lower so we are looking at the geometry to see what needs to be done. I've done a dedicated Colt 9mm lower DI so it should be about the same mods.

Got my box of TCM brass and 9R bullets from Ammo Supply Warehouse today. Did some quick measuring: I was expecting the cannalure to be higher than the 40gr TCM stock bullet for some reason. That reason being seating the bullet to < 1.19".... Next step was to load some up to the cannalure and sure enough, 1.25" oal... As you can see, it won't fit into a 9mm mag without being seated deeper. And the ogive is much higher than the 40gr, so you won't be able to run them at > 1.19" probably. And that's where the 1gr less powder charge is going to come in having to seat the 9R bullet deeper. Should feed great tho, I guess we'll find out.

No news here lately, been brutal work schedule and zero time to do anything. No work on mags, no work on the 9R, no work on barrels......

Made it back to shop, finally just pulled the plug and did it.... Got a couple things done and had a small batch of 8" blanks setting on the bench waiting for some programming time. Got it tuned pretty good so should have some 8" tcm brls coming up!

Got my 1:7 sub barrel throated and will test it with our M1 Carbine mag set up this weekend with SS109 62gr and 75gr HPBT's. Got some new brass a while back and loaded up some loads with 9R, TCM, 34, and 50gr bullets to test in the TCM mag set ups. Can't find my case sizing wax so didn't load up a whole bunch....

Had an issue holding tolerances today..... Went through lathe and chuck set up again and dialed things in a bit more. Last brl went pretty smooth.

I like the nonstandard 22 TCM rounds. I reload and the case makes a good small game hunting round. I hope you have a good time with them!

Ran one of our cnc turned pistol barrels on the glok lower today and feed and function was 100% for the first two TCM mags. 3rd mag was getting some extra drag and things were getting dirty. Also noticed a small "smile" on the cases where they are scraping a bit going in. Will polish up the chamber and test again after I hit the reload bench....

Range test this weekend with the modified glok to TCM mag lower. Pleased to say feed and function was close to 100%. There is still a slight clearance issue with the mag / lower so I need to decide what I want to do there as there are two options. Option #1 is to machine out the lower a bit more. Option #2 is to squeeze the mag to narrow up the front a wee bit. We'll go with option 1 next time I fire up the mill so we can get the TCM mags to drop free. On a side note: Reloading the TCM is a PITA. The brass is real soft and it stretches a lot and must be trimmed. If you don't, you bulge the necks during bullet seating / crimping, or the neck gets so long that it won't chamber. I've been doing a lot of soul searching on this round, and while fun, we've spent a lot of time and money on it. Using the factory mags is by far the best route to go. Unfortunately, that pretty much limits you to factory bullets. Anything longer than that runs us into magazine issues. Running out to 1.69" for the M1 Carbine mag set up puts you in heavier bullets that a: limit performance, and b: puts you on the wrong side of the twist equation. Honestly, your std .223 is so much easier to work with and can be set up to run the light bullets with the correct barrel. Something to think about....

Here's the 9R build, very easy to do.... Test fired a mag today and Feed and Function 100%. We'll bring some more ammo with us to the range for more testing. Lower is a New Frontier 9mm Glock pattern 80% lower we machined out last week. Magazine is a stock 9mm. Rounds were loaded with Armscore 9R 40gr bullets to 1.16" over 10gr of H110.

Does anyone make a 22TCM barrel for the Tokarev pistol? Also looking for a 22TCM barrel for a spare M-1 carbine receiver?
