I know GW did some homework on this. Had a guy ask about it today. Another "double duty" round. Looks like it might work on paper. M1 Mag will take .357 Mag rounds. Spare, spare time project.....

Do you actually have an upper for the rimless .357 mag? Might make a good hunting round for those that can use pistol type rounds although I guess they would have to get it approved. If you are shooting it, what velocities are you getting and with what length barrel? Also -- mags -- what is necessary to get mags to feed since I would imagine the rounds are short and that big fat bullet may have a problem with the barrel extension.
Nice project -- not too big a cartridge but something that would fit right in with existing dies.

Lots of options here but will see what loaded dummy rounds fill out to, what the case dimensions are and how they compare with standard .357 dimensions. M1 Carbine mags should work so that's what we'll start with. Should be able to load out some heavier bullets to the 1.68" oal. Issue is going to be wall thickness and all that. Then again, would be tempting to keep them to 1.28" oal and see what happens...... Either way, both exceed 2000 fps in a carbine.

Cut some brass today and took some measurements: Here are the "as cut" dimensions 9mm: .016" wall .366" od / .335" id .355 + .032 = .387" Tok: .013" wall, .363" od / .335" id 357: .011" wall, .355" od / .333" id So without some neck turning there will be some case blow out. Of course we could always tool up for the .338 bullets. There is a round out there the 338/223 which took the .223 case and blew out the shoulder and made it a straight wall. The guy started with full length cases but had neck issues so he chopped them off at the shoulder which are a shade longer than the 357 rimless.

Thought you might get a laugh out of this since you're working on a 25 caliber project -- 256WM. This is the 25 Luger! The 30 Luger necked down to 25 pistol caliber with a 50gr bullet -- actually shorter than the 9mm on the left. Had some brass and had some bullets and had some time to waste.
