Found this twist calculator link because getting a lot of questions on the "best" rate for running both ends of the 30 cal spectrum: Tokarev: 86 gr JRN .535" long at 1650 fps Tok / BO Subs: 240gr SMK 1.54" long at 1000 fps kwk.us/twist.htmlAfter doing a couple 30 Carbines and noting to people that their "normal" twist rates are 1:20, the Tokarevs should be much slower than 1:10 twist. I guess the only way to do a real comparison would be to get a slower twist barrel and find out....

I have to agree with you -- if the person is shooting milsurp or commercial stuff like Sellier&Bellott ammo. Those types of ammo have something like 86gr bullets and would work better in a slower twist -- but -- there are those that like to screw with the bullet size and shoot stuff like 125gr spire point bullets at super sonic velocities. A 125gr bullet that's 1.20" long would work really nice in a 1:10 twist if it's going 1600fps or more. The customer needs to kinda think about what he might be doing with the rifle down the road. I have Three Tok carbines and they are all 1:10 twist but that was what was available for me and I guess was the most cost affective. they all actually work fine except the blowback which I use M1 carbine size lead bullets and it shoots a little rough.
