Has anyone tried the 30 luger dies for the tok? I know the case is about .100 shorter but i figured i could just back the dies off that much in my press. Id really like to look at a tok schematic to see the differences of the demensions. Thanks and long live the lil bottle necks!

I would try the dies on some starline brass and see if it will duplicate case. The only problem might be if you shoot hot loads the base of the case in the web area may not get fully resized and cause a tight fit. find a luger and tokarev diagram and check the shoulder diameter. I believe the Luger is 0.374" and the Tokarev is 0.370" -- I don't know if the Luger diameter is large enough to cause a tight fit and my "Cartidges of the World" book could have a misprint.

I checked the shoulders in ammo guide and the 30 luger is .378" and the 7.62 Tokarev is .370". I'm not sure if the larger diameter luger sholder will cause a problem. Is there a reason you don't want to just get a set of 7.62 Tok dies. If you got them, you would only have to adjust them once and that's it.

well i just thought i might could get some rcbs luger dies for the price of 7.62x25 lee dies. I have yet to get a good set of lee's out of the box. With the economy like it is every lil bit helps....I knew they were really close but i dont know if the lil bit of cash saved would be worth the hassle. thanks guys.

I know what you mean about trying to save some cash. I know if it were me, I'd get the 30 luger dies and find the cartridges were too wide in the shoulder and I had wasted the money -- never fails for me.

not knowing how much the RCBS dies are, I ordered mine from CH4d and have not looked back.....and when I wanted a 1/2" shorter seating die for the heavy projectiles, I think they charged me $15 or less (pretty sure it was less) for the new seating stem, shipped (quickly at that).......I totally agree about lee Dies. only lee dies I use anymore are there Crimp dies. and universal decapping dies....go figure.

The (apparently unpopular) Lee page lists 3 seperate part numbers for the Tok, Mauser, and Luger. I think my Lee Tok dies also say 30 Mauser on them also, I'll have to check. Here is a link about the differences. www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=279952
