Anyone got chrono data on the S&B compared to other surplus? 22B, you running stock carrier, spring, & buffer? The carrier is lightened, the spring is shortened and the buffer is empty. This is how my original 7.62 mini-whisper upper had to be modified to shoot commercial ammo. Doug might know what the S&B runs compared to surplus.

Honestly, I don't know, I'll have to measure. They have been sitting in my take-off pile for a couple years and they were the right length. I've been putting M4 Carbine on the Tok uppers for customers who want the FSB.

Been working on this in different variations for a while and decided to move full speed ahead about a week ago. Been doing testing using our new test chamber and has really made a difference in the shop. Going to have to add a brass catcher now..... Have not decided what to do for handguards yet but have some new quads that I'm going to try.

Worked on some full mag test dumps yesterday with our Tok Piston set up. Parts are holding up 100% so far. Would like to make one more mod on the system and hope to get that started today. Running the piston definitely reduces the choking gasses in your face syndrome.

Worked on some full mag test dumps yesterday with our Tok Piston set up. Parts are holding up 100% so far. Would like to make one more mod on the system and hope to get that started today. Running the piston definitely reduces the choking gasses in your face syndrome. I did a piston upper for my 22 Reed Express and it ran really nice. Everything stayed clean. The 22 Reed Express uses the pistol length gas system and I found a pistol length piston system at CDNN for $169. I was just screwing around and wanted to see how the piston system worked. It was OK but in my case I found that the range of loads was a bit limited. The gas port was a good size but I could not use the lighter loads that I could use in the DI setup. I guess I should have spent more time tuning the piston setup for what I wanted but I got lazy and went back to the DI. I don't know what length system you're using in the 7.62X25 setup but I'll bet at least the lower stays nice and clean -- I was impressed with how clean things stayed -- like the bolt and carrier. Maybe some day I'll try the piston kit again but this time spend a little more time with it.

Is that really a piston 9mm upper? Which magcatch does it actually use?

that is a sweet looking unit. I especially like the strategic use of office material camouflage. I am sure it serves double duty as a heat shield and vibration damper for your hand as well id this a "in house" piston set up ? and is it retro-fittable to existing gas guns ? Does it have an adjustable gas block ? When can we get one ?
