looks like you milled off the picatinney top from tha gas block. Yes, I noted that at the bottom of the post with the pictures. The blocks all have rails for something like pop-up front sights -- I guess they never thought about trying to stuff them under some handguards. The Ospray piston system is low enought to fit under handguards but I dont think they could built one in a pistol length setup and, of course, I couldn't afford it anyway.

I made a new piston yesterday while I was waiting for paint to dry. Yes, AA stuff is up there, but I've heard great things about it. The CMMG kit is under $300 with the carrier, I've seen them for less on Gunbroker. Our approach is a little different, that's why I just started making my own.

Will your piston kits fit under standard handguards -- say something like mid-length plastic types. I like the setup that I have but would like to see one that's got a lower profile.

I am picking up another Bushmaster M17 next weekend. this will be my second one. thinking of doing more then just rails and cooling slots. Thinking of possibly a caliber change .....got looking at the piston system........giving me some ideas.

I've seen them at the range -- never checked to see what the piston setup is like but it looks like it fits under that tube of a body.

Our piston does not fit under regular handguards, I'm still at the "form follows function" stage...

I went to the range today and put around 200 rounds through the 22 Reed Express piston upper and it ran like a champ. I will say the 40gr Hordady V-max over 9.4gr of H110 shot the best with under 1/2" groups. I may not want to convert this back to DI when my new 7.62X25 barrel shows. I changed the upper to a standard flat top and added a front sight and red dot. This was in preparation for the barrel switch to new 7.62X25 barrel.

That M16 we ran the upper on has a really tight magwell. My SBR lower has a timney trigger on it, the M16 has a Milspec FCG and you could tell the hammer drag on the carrier......makes me want to get another M16.......
