Figure since ya'll are talking about my upper and video, and subsonics, I should get involved in the thread. I have not tried anything lighter then 180grn projectiles.
Quickloads........do not believe there velocities, so far found the QL velocities are running higher then reality.
I picked up some S&B brass to shoot and reload as it is stronger. will also be testing the wolf brass.
1 in 10 will stabalize the 180 to 220 grn projectiles at subsonic levels. 1000 to 1050 FPS is where I am shooting for.
I just loaded up some 220RN from Hornady and Sierra and some more 200grn HPBT to try a different powder then the first round of testing and also trying 2 different primer combos.

You will love the S&B brass -- I think having to shoot the stuff to get the brass is a hell of a good time also. The Starline is good if you want to shoot regular velocity stuff. You may find that if you want to shoot the starline, the rim is a bit thicker and may not always get picked up by the extractor. The extactor can be filed a hair and all will be well but that's another project. Let us know how she shoots with the S&B. By the way, If you do want to use Starline for other reasons try some of the 7.63X25 mauser. Starline makes the 7.62X25 Tok brass a hair short but the 7.63X25 mauser is the same length as the S&B Tok brass so you get a little better neck length and a bit better grip on the bullet.

Charlie,
Thanks for the tip on the mauser brass. everything so far has been 38Kpsi or less. have some new loads I am hoping to test this weekend with a different powder and both standard and magnum primers......along with running the S&B stuff............will probably be mostly chrono work again this time.
Have put through quite a few rounds now and now and no extractor problems with it as of yet....

The Starline brass will show signs of pressure at the primer pocket first -- if you are working up slowly in your loads. You will notice the new primers going in way too easy when the pressure is a little to much. Believe it or not I've actually had a couple of primer pockets that were loose fitting on new/unfired Starline brass. The Starline is good for volume reloading but the S&B is good for working up hot stuff.

Hi Doug, thanks for stopping by! I started a new thread for Tok reloading so lets keep the info coming. There is a lot of sub interest out there and I am just getting started so there is a lot to be educated on. Just to let everyone know, the Tmag is NOT a tokarev case. Its a 9mm Winchester magnum case run through the Tok dies. Marty suggested calling it the Whisparev... shorter than the Whisper but longer than the Tok.... ;D Plus I don't need any letters from Lyman....
Ran some 200gr RN cast last night and played with OAL. There is definately potential in the round but reloading practice is definately required when doing the subs. I need to back up to my IHMSA days and start reloading like I mean it for these guys. Also chambering a carbine brl so we can see what the 85 - 125's will do.

HMC710, I like your idea of going larger in the brass -- may not be standard Tok but it is heavy duty pistol brass and should make some impressive loads. Since this is already starting to move a hair away from the standard Tok round did you ever think about maybe trying a smaller caliber in that magnum brass?

It sure looks like the old 256 Win Mag would work and would like to look into the 22 Reeds Express. The 256 has some variants like the Universal and Ferret I think that use rimless cases. For those who have not been there, www.ammoguide.com is a great resource. The issue is always the same with the AR platform, finding a way to feed it. The 1.156 case is short to fill a 5.56 mag and too long for the Tok, Uzi, etc. So I guess its back to my original self question, "what's the point?" Running a case up to about 1.4" would be ideal for the 168's but if you are running subs, the Tok will do. Loaded up some of those last night but didn't get a chance to test. The 9mag and Tok just seemed like a stupid simple conversion and I was right, even I did it Yes I have QL and Quick Design.

I have not gotten quick design........yet.........
I have found that QL is off of the velocities predicted with the heavier bullets in this case, atleast with the 2 powders I have played with up till not. trying some lil gun in this batch, and couple primers variations.

This is the 22 Reed Express. It works great with a pistol length DI system and with no weight necessary to be removed from any parts. My only problem was that I could not get the rounds to feed correctly from the PPS mags and that's the reason I have a CZ-24 magazine setup. The 22 RE feeds great out of the CZ-24 subgun magazine. I've come to the conclusion that it is the more pronounced shoulder on the round that causes the cartridge to get misdirected out of the PPS magazine. I've use S&B brass, startline brass and reformed .223 brass to make cartridges with the S&B brass being the best. Marty made the barrel and included the pistol length DI setup for me. Top velocities are around 2900 to 3000 fps with 30 grain bullets. It is very accurate. I've used up to 70 grain bullets with this setup. The gasblock you see at the front of the midlength handguard is just for looks and to keep sticks and junk from getting into the handguard. I think the 7.62 Tok is still my favorite.

nice.........My original Tok Blowback was set for the CZ mags since I had a post dealer sample CZ24 SMG......I know I still have a mag or two around here somewhere. was gonna convert a 9mm mag for those, but have decided just to sell that barrel and bolt.

Chambering a 16" brl for the 30 Wisp today and will see how it compares to the 11" numbers.

Got the 16" Wisp brl chambered and turned for the pistol gas block location. Got the gas block started and hopefully, will get a chance to finish it up today after adapter bevels.....
