I had just gotten my barrel and gas system form Heavy Metal so I pulled my blow-back Tok upper apart and used the upper for the DI Tok setup.I've got bad eye sight so I'm using a 4X scope on the carry handle and I went with the carbine length M.O.E. handguard because it just seems to fit well in my hand. I found the A2-like .308 flash hider at DPMS. I'm using CZ-24 7.62 Tok mags only because that's what I'm using for some other rounds I shoot. I also have a PPS magblock but I'll save that for the blow-back when I put it back together. The setup runs 100% right from the start. Charlie

Tim, The upper worked like a champ and so I decided to go a little more on the scope. I changed the upper receiver to a flat top and added the scope shown in the picture. I should get a chance to see just how accurate it is this weekend. By the way I have a Tok upper that's a blowback- it uses the same PPS-43 type magblock as most DI's except for the addition of the ejector. I was planning on using the blowback for the corrosive milsurp ammo and the DI version for handloads and commercial ammo. the blowback makes for a quick conversion for somebody that already has a 9mm blowback AR. Just change the barrel and the magblock -- that's just what I did -- although I had to build the magblock back then (2002).

I decided to go with the standard PPS mags. I had a magblock from years ago so this is the final version I think.

I've got to ask you about that magazine in your picture -- did you get it from Marty? I kinda recognize the red strip on the bottom of the mag.

Cheesit Sparky - we been busted! That was the mag we used to prototype adapters. As fate/luck/tolerance would have it, its the smallest mag I have ever measured.

I had sent Marty a preliminary magblock and a magazine with a red strip on the bottom. the red strip was to identify it as a DI mag since my blowback mags go up further in the magwell. As you already know those PPS mags came in all sizes so I probably gave it a little squeeze here and there. Charlie

I had to make the "thing" from sheet metal and other metal parts. I'm kinda embaressed that somebody else actually saw it. I think I made around 3 for Marty while he tried to find somebody to make them -- people would keep them and not make anything for him. Darn good thing he found you. I could probably use the parts for the next Tok build. Charlie
