Been a while since I've been here but we are busy with work and AR parts! Our latest test is seeing how short we can go on a barrel with the stock gas system and 7" is pushing it. Next step was to shorten the stock gas system as much as possible and try it again and we got down to 5.5" with some tweaking on buffer and spring. The final answer will be to just use our Sig / Tok / 10mm gas systems and see if we can get down under 5"...
Of note, we had a customer with failure to chamber. Measuring the Armscor nickel plated round shows its long and fat. We just ordered some of the same ammo to take some measurements and see what is up. We've had a lot of issues with rounds smaller than spec and chambers over spec, but "oversize" ammo is a first.
We'll take some measurements and see if we need to give Armscor a call and see if they have had any complaints.

A picture is worth a thousand words as they say. Finding some of the new nickel plated ammo .005" long and .005" fat compared with my chamber prints. I pulled two bullets and tried to resize the cases and you can see the 2 middle cases and how much they got squeezed by the sizing die..... I couldn't even get them fully sized. Armscor won't give up chamber details, but having reload these for the last few years, the combination of soft brass and long cases cause the body to swell and become barrel shaped. That's what we are measuring. We cut our chambers tight and are reluctant to open them up, especially if its Armscor that has an issue. But, like they said, "as long as the rounds fit our chambers, there is no problem." If anyone's got a RIA 22 tcm and want to share chamber specs, it would be appreciated.

Hi. It's a few years later. So I thought I'd ask the question again.
Is there a source for a 22TCM barrel for the Tokarev?
I have had a dream project of 7.62x25 necked down to 5.56 for 25 years, ever since I bought a NIB Type 54-1 for $80. I only recently learned of 22 TCM.
I can get custom tooling and line a shot out barrel to 5.56x25+ or I can buy a new barrel in 22TCM if someone makes them. The 7.62x25 round is 0.010" larger diameter than the 22TCM :-( And 0.005" larger than the .375 4130 tubing I found.

RHB, That would be an interesting pistol. I'm a reloader so I don't think I will do anything with 22 TCM, so picky on powder charges. I can see why you want one, it would be cool.

Ron Reed solved that problem years ago with the 22 Reeds Express. We built a few but no real interest in them. Sold my last barrel and die set a year or so ago. We have also rebarrelled an M57, 1911, and Glock to TCM as a "what if" and couldn't get the slide / spring combo light enough to cycle reliably. I tell you, machining a Glock slide with their coating was a learning curve....
Huge difference with the TCM in a locked breech pistol and the direct blowback in an AR. Learned that lesson too.

Started a run of TCM barrels. Waiting on new reamers to come in with some of our mods.

Been working hard on TCM builds and loaded up an 8" version to test with the new chrono. 2330 fps with factory ammo!

TCM 16" barrel with factory ammo hit over 2500 fps, but need to do more testing to get some more data.

Did a custom build with 1:9 twist barrel for a customer and with our new mags fed and fired 100%. Even the M mags with 1.5" oal capacity fed the factory 1.28" rounds with no problem.
